IYENGAR YOGA
Iyengar yoga is at the heart of what we do at Austin Yoga Tree. Founded by, and named after, B.K.S. Iyengar (1918 - 2014), these classes focus heavily on proper alignment. Some of the most notable features of Iyengar Yoga include: its focus on precise demonstration and verbal instruction, including adjustments of students as necessary; the use of props including blocks, bolsters, and even the Yoga Wall; strict and highly-developed teaching requirements.
Iyengar Yoga is great for beginners. Our Austin Yoga Tree Iyengar teachers help beginners and new yoga students understand each of the poses, or asanas, by providing clear verbal instruction. Some of the poses you can expect in an Iyengar class are Mountain Pose, Triangle Pose and Downward-Facing Dog (or Down Dog). In the words of B.K.S. Iyengar: "It is through the alignment of the body that I discovered the alignment of my mind, self, and intelligence." Beginners and all levels welcome! |
YOGA WALL
We are the ONLY yoga studio in North Austin with a Yoga Wall! The Yoga Wall takes up a full wall of our studio and allows you to use straps and harnesses (hooked into the wall!) to experience yoga poses while using gravity to your advantage! Based in the Iyengar method, Yoga Wall classes are great for overcoming obstacles to achieving proper alignment and gaining a deeper understanding of yoga poses.

YOGA and MOBILITY
In this class we will improve strength, alignment and stability to help increase full range of motion. Students will be lead through a sequence of postures that open channels of awareness. Moving with breath while focusing on mobility, will help improve joint health and energize the body!

HATHA YOGA for All Bodies and All Levels
Experience traditional yoga postures with a detailed, systematic approach to bring your mind and body awareness into alignment with your self. You'll notice your outer layers moving deeper inward, your inner layers expanding outward. And a general sense of bliss may follow.

YIN YOGA
Yin Yoga uniquely complements your traditional yoga practice by targeting the ligaments, bones, joints and deep fascia of the body. Open your body (and mind) in a whole new way.

VINYASA FLOW
When most people think of yoga, they think of Vinyasa yoga. Our Vinyasa Flow classes focus on uniting your body with your breath as you flow from one pose to the next. Students are often instructed to inhale with one pose and exhale with the next, moving (or flowing!) through a sequence of poses back-to-back. These sequences often includes Sun Salutations, where you will flow from Plank Pose to Upward Dog Pose or Cobra Pose back to Downward-Facing Dog, or Down Dog. Vinyasa classes generally include more movement than some of the other yoga classes we offer at Austin Yoga Tree.

CANDLE LIGHT RESTORATIVE
We often joke that Savasana, or Corpse Pose, where you lie on your back on your mat, is our favorite. Some teachers say it is the hardest, too. Why? Because when you are not moving, when everything is still, you must be present without distractions. Our Candlelight Restorative is a Restorative Yoga class where you will use props to set yourself up to hold comfortable, relaxing poses for extended periods of time. And yes, it's done by candlelight.
Restorative yoga class is like going to the gas station to fill up your tank (or plugging in, if you have an electric car). If you keep going and going and going, you'll eventually be running on fumes! Restoratives fill you back up, so you can go the distance whenever you need to. Beginners and all levels welcome! |
KUNDALINI YOGA
Kundalini connects yoga postures with movement, breathing, and chanting of mantras to awaken and unite the energies of the body and mind. It brings forth your deepest wisdom from within.

RESTORATIVE KUNDALINI YOGA
Restorative Kundalini Yoga delightfully blends the best of two worlds - the ancient science of self-healing
through Kundalini yoga with a deeply restorative practice.
As we synchronize our breath with gentle movement, the deeply held tension in the body dissolves, the mind
quiets and we reconnect to our center. From this open and relaxed space, we flow into extended mantra and
meditation, followed by a deep relaxation. Body, mind and spirit are blissfully joined to release, relax and restore.

Welcome to the Present Moment. This is a guided meditation in a judgement free zone. Why meditate? Research has shown that meditation increases happiness, immune function, compassion, focus, and memory. Meditation has also been shown to decrease stress, anxiety, depression, and pain.
